I planned on reading a lot of my class mates post to get a better idea on the format and ideas of what all this blogging is about. I am not a blogger or tweeter so i was hoping you all were and i could read and go from there, but not many don't have their blog going yet and the others look like a research paper. I am going to treat this like what i think a blog is and hope its right or the teacher corrects me.
I am going to argue as about student who was warned to take photographs of me chugging beer off Facebook. I know when you go to a university you must sign a form to assure you know the code of conduct for that school, as well as another code of conduct for the athletics side of the house. I know as well as my other military members in this class that we can just not put anything on Facebook and hang freedom of speech on it picture or post. The schools run under a similar idea as the military in that everyone who is a part of the organization is an ambassador for it. By becoming a member of the university you have agreed not to tarnish the reputation that millions have built. Just the year you have university suppeneding kids for thing that violated the conduct policy like at BYU basketball, i would think a team that was up for a number one seed in march madness before losing a star player to a conduct violation. The violation wasn't against the law just against the code. this was sex with his girlfriend if you didn't know, Google it. I not saying that you give up your freedom of speech to go to college but you may lose ability to post picture for a while that will make your University look bad, and if your a true member then you should have no problem taking down a drunken keg stand picture from your profile picture if it could damage the reputation of the school you are representing.
First of all, a blog is just what you did. It could be about anything and everything you want. In this case, the instructor is telling us what to write about. At least the topics. One whatever about what we read about in our text books and one about a topic she provided us. The last one should be a response on another students blog. Such as the one I am doing now with this one. Except I would write about how I agree or disagree with what you just posted. And oh by the way I do agree with you in this case. We should be careful on what we do post on line and about what we say or write down as well. I too am in the military (Army) and like you said, I must be careful in what I do, say and write down. Especially in today's world of technology. Never know where you will be "post" at. Just make sure you are using Citations and quotes so that you can use what you learned in this class to your posting or blogs. Good luck and well I too am just doing what I think is right.
